Guy and Notebook

Technology has fundamentally changed life as we know it, both at home and in the workplace.  At KDS Staffing we know society depends on technology in myriad ways. That’s why every day we link the best and brightest in this ever-growing field to form dynamic relationships that change lives.

According to the Labor Department, a combination of high salaries and low turnover make these jobs extremely desirable. Check out some of the hottest tech jobs around, and if you’re ready to see if one would be a good fit for you, give KDS a call today.

1. Software Developer

These are the inventors, those creative individuals who have the technical knowhow to create programs that make our lives better. The demand for these innovators is at an all-time high right now, with a decent-to-awesome salary range (five to six figures) and lots of opportunities to shine. If you’re a natural problem solver with the ability to think outside the box and either the degree or track record to show employers that you know your stuff, this could be the career path for you.

2. Computer Systems Analyst

The ideal person for this job understands computer hardware, software and networks and how they work together, and has a thorough knowledge of both IT and business. This makes you the “go to” man or woman when it comes to making recommendations for the best operations systems for corporations to use, or designing a better process altogether.

With the Labor Department predicting over 24% growth in this field in the next 5 to 7 years, there’s plenty of opportunity here. If you’re an extrovert who works well in a team environment, this could be the right fit for your skills and personality.

3. Information Security Analyst

This is the fastest growing segment of technology wizards, and for good reason. You may recall Target’s security problem in 2013, when 70 million card holders were affected. The demand for individuals who have strong problem-solving and analytical skills along with an understanding of computer systems is a direct result of these kinds of breaches.

If you have a knack for identifying potential problems an organization might face, determining where an organization may be vulnerable to attack and installing protections such as firewalls and data encryption programs, you have what it takes to be successful in this type of position. With growth projected at 36.5% in the near future, this is a great place to be.

4. Web Developer

Whether working as a full-time employee, part-time consultant or on a contract basis these folks are the designers who make website magic. These talented men and women are responsible for taking the theories, thoughts, ideas and desires of the client and bringing them into concretion. Although degrees and/or certifications can be helpful, many employers focus on actual work produced. If you have an impressive project portfolio, it could be all you need to land a job.

Web developers produce a website that presents the client’s message and product or service to their ideal customer in the best way possible. This requires not only a good grasp of programming language, but also software programs and web applications. The demand for this skill set is currently strong and expected to remain so into the next decade due to increases in ecommerce and expanding mobile technology, with growth in this industry segment projected at 20%.

5. Mechanical Engineer

If you enjoy a position that calls for a balance of right and left brain thinking and have an innate curiosity about how things work, this could be your sweet spot. Are you a natural problem solver? Do you enjoy researching, designing, building and testing things? That is what mechanical engineers do all day. They take theories and flesh them out until they become reality.

With the right education and experience, there are exciting subsets within this profession (think nanotechnology, alternative energy sources and architecture) which will continue to grow in the next 5 years.

These tech jobs aren’t going anywhere, and new opportunities continue to present themselves as technology develops. KDS has the staff, connections and expertise to pair your skills and personality with the right opportunity. Give us a call today if you’re ready to expand your horizons in the ever-changing world of this exciting industry.
