Select your staff carefully, perform exceptionally

Technology is not everything when it comes to choosing a recruiting process.  Organizations have to balance well their hiring process and make sure to include some formal or informal face to face interactions with their prospects.  Sure computer’s programs and applications can be of great help in pre-selecting some very promising candidates. However, in order to make such an important final decision, some human direct contact is crucial.

First impression is key and your future employees are watching your every move you make as an organization.  Make sure you give them the respect and time they deserve.  They might soon enough become your best fan and your best marketers of the products and services your company has to offer to the general public.

To evaluate correctly your potential employees, you should utilize some very well managed talent assessment tools.  You can also use the same type of performance and qualifications tests on your current employees.  This last idea will precisely be helpful when anyone from on your current payroll is interested in applying for a different position within the organization.  You want to match your qualified employees to the correct job, and if possible the first time around.

Using a strategic evaluation tool can ensure that it does get done and can avoid unnecessary costs associated with a new employee training, for example.  Make sure you do select the appropriate tool for the appropriate measurement.  No matter what tool you will end up choosing for the process, please follow these simple rules:

  • Respect and promote your firm’s values
  • Use a questionnaire relatable to the open position
  • Keep the process short enough so no one loses interest
  • Minimize the complexity of the overall process and encourage flexibility
  • Give everyone a chance to shine within their respective qualifications

Once you have adopted the correct assessment tool and you have interviewed all individuals involved, make sure you do follow-up promptly.  Keep your recruits and active staff informed and allow time in your schedule for valuable and honest feedback.  After all, this should be about the growth of your organization, either it is immediate or in the near future for some of your selected staff.
